California ASCD presents
SOS Substitute Support
When: February 2, 2023 - 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (PT)
A recent survey by the National Education Association (NEA) reveals that 55% of educators throughout the country report that they are planning on leaving the profession or retiring early. (The reality across our Nation is that teachers are, in fact, leaving the districts that have been doing their best to fill these positions with substitute teachers.)
However, due to a lack of qualified substitute teachers, a lot of phenomenal humans are stepping into open teaching positions as substitutes. Many of them without a background in education, classroom management, trauma or social emotional learning. Additionally, educators who are new to the vocation or those who have previously retired, are stepping up and stepping into vacant positions without a great deal of support or guidance. That said, this workshop is designed to encourage and empower these steadfast substitutes and newer educators.
